Jill Youse
Jill Youse is the founder of the International Breast Milk Project. Youse is an honors graduate of Truman State University, where she played college soccer. She currently lives in Minnesota with her husband, 2 daughters, and 3 dogs. Youse has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Time.com, ABC World News, BBC, and National Public Radio. She was named the Women's Health Magazine Action Hero, ABC World News Person of the Week, and most recently she earned a Social Entrepreneur Award from Social Venture Partners. Email Jill Youse.
Dominique Brown, Logistics and Operations Advisor
Dominique Brown is the Chief Operating Officer for the Quick International Courier Group of Companies around the world. She oversees the global operations, strategic development, and quality assurance programs for the company. Ms. Brown has been an integral part of Quick International since 1983, and has helped to provide innovative logistics solutions for major industries including life sciences, aviation, high-tech, entertainment and financial. As a veteran of the logistics industry, Ms. Brown previously held management positions in international sales, international operations and customer service.
Frederique Daniel, Volunteer Director of Communications
Frederique Daniel has an Anthropology and Economics degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and an MBA with a focus on International Marketing from the University of Adelaide in Australia. Originally from France she moved to the United States at the age of 13 and has lived, studied and worked overseas in several countries including rural Nepal, Australia and Canada. Until 2007 she worked at Mayo Clinic in the role of International Marketing Consultant but is now a full-time mom to her 16 month old son Hugo. She currently lives in Rochester, Minnesota with her husband, son and 2 Bernese Mountain dogs.
Maria Rinaldi, Volunteer Director of Research
Maria Rinaldi has an Bachelors and Masters in Engineering from Tufts University in Boston, MA and a Masters in Public Health from the University of Minnesota. Maria is currently completing a PhD degree in Epidemiology from the Department of Epidemiology and Community Health at the University of Minnesota. Maria is working in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic Department in Internal Medicine Program in Global Health on a research project to document the health benefits of breast milk as compared to formula in HIV exposed premature infants in South Africa who are receiving IBMP donated breast milk. Maria is from Rhode Island and now resides in Rochester, MN with her husband, Carmen, 16 month old son, Joseph, and her pug, Minne.
Alexandra Metzl
Ali is currently a 3rd year law student at New York University School of Law and resides in New York City with her husband Josh. After graduation, she plans to join Kirkland & Ellis LLP in their New York office as an associate specializing in real estate law. Throughout law school, Ali has focused her studies on the legal and tax aspects facing non-profit organizations and will bring her experience to the Breast Milk Project. Ali graduated phi beta kappa and magna cum laude from Brown University majoring in Modern American History. She originally hails from Baltimore, Maryland. In her spare time, Ali enjoys triathlons, long distance running, ballet and modern dance, traveling and attending opera and classical music performances. Ali is inspired by the Breast Milk Project – its founders and donors - and hopes one day to be a donor herself.
Vuyi Nkomo, MD
Dr. Vuyisile Nkomo was born in Durban, South Africa. He came to the United States after high school (Woodmead High School) and attended undergraduate schools at Central Oregon Community College, Bend, Oregon and Xavier University of Louisiana, New Orleans, Louisiana. He received his MD degree in 1994 from Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tennessee, after which he did his residency training in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiology at the Mayo Clinic. He received his MPH degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, Minnesota, as part of his cardiology fellowship. He is a cardiologist at the Mayo Clinic and his area of interest is heart valve diseases.
